Israel is going down down down

Israel’s image is deteriorating internationally: UK ambassador                        The British ambassador to Tel Aviv has said that the Israeli regime is becoming isolated in the world and its image is deteriorating internationally due to illegal settlement expansion and restrictions on Gaza.

“The positive image that Israel is trying to reflect to the world is deteriorating in the light of the violent practices it carries out against Palestinian citizens in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip”, said Matthew Gould in a TV interview on Thursday 2 August.

Gould, the UK's first Jewish ambassador in Tel Aviv, also said that at the top of Israel’s “violent practices” was “the continuous policy of building illegal settlements on the lands owned by Palestinian citizens in the West Bank”.

Moreover, Gould said he saw a shift among the middle ground of British parliamentary members towards a more critical view of Israel.

"Israelis might wake up in 10 years' time and find out that the level of understanding in the international community has suddenly changed, and that patience for continuing the status quo has reduced," he said.

Gould also criticized the Israeli regime’s media propaganda and PR strategies bent on reflecting a positive image of its activities in the occupied Palestinian territories. He said people may not be experts but they “are not stupid” and see “the violent practices" of the Israeli regime.
